Ayesha Hadhir, Shaikha Al Ketbi and Rawdha Al Ketbis’ work is a relentless exploration of a contemporary reality that embodies their collective roots as they employ ritualistic modes to create new visual possibilities. What binds these artists’ practices together is their technique of weaving in between absence and presence. In parallel to this practice, the artists immerse themselves in an urban life in which they absent their communal individuality in order to contribute to the collective.
Stepping out of their everyday lives as professional working women, the three artists choose the sea, the desert and vacant urban spaces as their creative environment. Their practices become a form of self-designed ritual to attune their tactility with nature— renewing their individual selves.
